In an online world populated by emojis, icons, acronyms, abbreviations and digital slang it is getting harder to decipher the lexicon of digital hieroglyphics. It’s like you need one of those secret Enigma code breaking machines from World War II to figure out what someone is trying to say and once you grasp the lingo – it all shifts. Case in point, the folks at Twitter recently sent their original star icon to the digital trash heap, giving it the same fate as the now uncool digi-acronym LOL. Twitter retired their star icon which was used for favoring content and replaced it with a pink heart icon that professes a user’s like of a post. The new hot pink heart icon bursts with love when clicked. Seriously, it really does burst, give it a try here!
“The heart is a universal symbol that resonates across languages, cultures, and time zones. The heart is more expressive, enabling you to convey a range of emotions and easily connect with people. And in our tests, we found that people loved it.” – Twitter
So go ahead and show your twitter followers some admiration by using the new lovable heart icon. To learn more about using social media and Twitter to enhance do-it-yourself online event registration and marketing efforts visit:
